How do I use the Related Services Section?
The Related Services and ESY Related Services sections are used specifically to assign BOCES Related Services to a student and maintain specific information as it pertains to the student’s activity within those related services.
A Billing District must be specified before a student can be enrolled in a related service.
A status of “Active” is required before a student can be assigned a related service.
A student can be enrolled in multiple related services at a time.
A related service start or end date can never fall on a weekend.
A student cannot be assigned a related service for a future or prior year if the student does not have an IEP document in that school year. The extended school year marks the beginning of a new school year.
If the wrong related service is accidentally added for a student it must be deleted and re-added correctly. The system does not permit the incorrect related service name to be changed to reflect the correct related service.
If a student has been billed for a related service in at least one month, the related service cannot be deleted from the system. A record must always be kept for historical and tracking purposes. Therefore, the incorrect related service should be ended and the correct related service should be added separately.
Since billing is enrollment based, if the student has a related service without a program, the related service will not be billed.
