Monitor Progress and Manage Tiers

Overview and Challenges of this
Phase of the RTI Lifecycle

Monitoring progress as students work within their intervention curriculum is a fundamental and necessary component of Response to Intervention (RTI).  The student’s performance is measured at regular intervals using brief assessments such as curriculum-based measurements (CBMs) comparing expected and actual rates of learning.  Based on these measurements, interventions are adjusted as needed.  At the conclusion of the intervention, students’ tier assignments are adjusted as appropriate.

Best-practices in progress monitoring include the statistical analysis and charting of individual student actual scores, projecting trend lines, and comparing these to the target goal (aim line).  Charts and graphs turn progress-monitoring data into easy-to-read visual displays that show at a glance whether an intervention plan is actually working.

While charting and graphing are extremely powerful tools, the time and complexity involved in tracking and inputting data, creating and updating charts, and distributing information have long presented a barrier for school districts.

Benefits of RTIm Direct in this Phase of the RTI Lifecycle

As a full-lifecycle Response to Intervention (RTI) solution, RTIm Direct includes a comprehensive progress monitoring and charting module that saves time, improves accuracy, and puts critical data at your fingertips.

RTIm Direct - Features and BenefitsIn keeping with our reputation for providing powerful yet flexible and user-friendly solutions, we designed RTIm Direct to offer seamless compatibility with any and all curriculum-based measurement (CBM) probes / assessments.  There are hundreds of widely available curriculum-based measurement (CBM) probes / assessments to choose from, and the field is constantly evolving. With RTIm Direct, you have the flexibility to use whatever curriculum-based measurements (CBMs) / assessments you prefer, today and in the future.

Curriculum-based measurements (CBMs) / assessments used for progress monitoring can be easily imported in a batch into RTIm Direct with a click of the mouse or quickly entered individually with a few keystrokes.

RTIm Direct automatically creates charts which include target score, actual score, and estimated score.  Separate charts for each intervention are displayed together with the student’s entire response to intervention (RTI) plan and information on a single scrollable page.

The system supports early intervention and helps save time by automatically calculating if a student is responsive to the intervention, and flags students that are non-responsive.  In this way, non-responsive students can be identified for review by the teacher or Response to Intervention (RTI) team, and the appropriate adjustments made as early as possible.

Moving students between Response to Intervention (RTI) tiers is also easy with RTIm Direct.  Each individual student’s entire Response to Intervention (RTI) information -- including their assessment history, intervention plan, activity log and notes, progress monitoring data and charts, responsiveness status flags, and more -- are all available on a single easy-to-read screen.
